Julianna Davis

Limbous is part of an ongoing series of sculptural wall works. The series stems from a fascination with the way architecture reacts to its environment and how light and dark define space. I work on a plane of ambiguity, where architectural imagery holds no ground or location and light becomes diffuse through a flexible fog. I strive to warp and dismantle the materials of our constructed world, further distorting their relationship via isolation and containment. The viewer must take an active role to grasp the material interactions with light and the false sense of depth and perspective. Through this effort, the shadow, the reflection, the profile, and the tension are considered the subject to be framed.
