Malach Campbell

Through narrative film & video production, I explore the concept of technology and capitalism, and their effects on human behavior and interpersonal relationships. I’m interested in analyzing the subtleties in human defectiveness, behaviorally. For example, how does the internet fuel male toxicity? How does technology filter our reality? I delve into this curiosity head-on in my short screenplay, Man in the Middle, which concerns three young adults who contemplate making an irreversible power move online. In it, I try and scrutinize the state of “unreality” many young people have utterly succumbed to. In addition to the script, I worked in illustration and graphic design to devise a coherent and comprehensive aesthetic vision. The film’s concept design strengthens the story’s visual and audible components, proving that it is ready to go into the stage of production. Furthermore, I produced a short film this term to exercise my skills in writing, directing, producing, and editing.
